Rebecca Cadie – ARPL Architects

Rebecca is a director of ARPL Architects, in Ayr, and is an RIAS conservation architect with advanced accreditation. A large proportion of her experience in the practice has been church conservation repair and alteration projects and is currently working on high level repairs at Paisley Abbey. 

As a long serving member of SPAB, she has recently become one of the Scottish speakers for their Faith in Maintenance church seminar series.

She was a member of the London Diocesan Advisory Committee (1992-98) and has been the Diocesan Architect for the Scottish Episcopal Church Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway since for more than 20 years and is also a member of the Diocesan Environment Group, and has chaired the Provincial Buildings Committee.

She was a member of the Church of Scotland Committee for Art and Architecture for 12 years and serves on the Stained Glass advisory group.

She has been an architectural adviser to Scotland Churches Trust and a member of the Church Buildings Renewal Trust. She also served as a trustee for Glasgow City Heritage Trust. For 9 years.

Martin Cook – Director, AOC Archaeology Group

Martin is a Director of AOC, Head of Fieldwork and is responsible for all aspects of Health and Safety.  AOC is accredited within the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) having demonstrated compliance with and sound management of current health and safety legislation. AOC is also accredited with Safe Contractor and Achilles. AOC also has stringent Health and Safety procedures as outlined in the Health and Safety Policy. It is Martin’s responsibility to ensure these standards are maintained. AOC also has a designated Health & Safety Committee which meets quarterly and Martin chairs. A Health & Safety Report is always tabled at every AOC monthly Board meeting by Martin. Where appropriate, AOC take external advice for their advisors and H&S auditors (eg Safety Services and Stuart Draper).

As well as being AOC’s in-house H&S Director, Martin also has two decades of experience in commercial archaeology, with a particular focus on the project management of large-scale infrastructure fieldwork projects. Martin has managed over 300 fieldwork projects for AOC, ranging from watching briefs through to excavations. Martin has worked closely with various clients including international engineers (e.g. BAM Construction; Laing O Rourke; Morrisons; Skanska); a suite of national house builders (e.g. Barratts, Taylor Wimpey; Cala) and third sector organisations (local councils & Historic Scotland).

Martin currently manages the Human Remains Call off Contract and Properties in Cre contract on behalf of Historic Environment Scotland, has spoken at over 45 conferences across the UK and has published 20 articles including three monographs.

Fiona MacDonald – Architect, LDN Architects

Fiona is an Associate and RIAS Conservation Accredited Architect at LDN Architects, supporting the UPS team with their unique and inspiring vision for Project Safe Haven to conserve and enhance HMS Unicorn in a permanent home at Dundee’s Victoria Dock.

Fiona is highly experienced within the heritage and culture sector, collaborating with and supporting a wide range of clients, charities, public bodies, and external stakeholders to deliver transformative projects within sensitive and unique heritage settings.

Peter Drummond – Peter Drummond Architect

Peter Drummond is a chartered architect specialising in the conservation and adaptive reuse of historic sites across the UK and Ireland.  As Chair of Practice/Expert Convenor for Building Standards and Safety for the RIAS he is regularly involved in issues around professional conduct, liability, claims, design duties, and contract administration. 

Peter represents the RIAS on a number of Government bodies including the Building Standards Fire Safety Review Panel 2022-24, the Cameron House Short Life Ministerial Working Group, the Compliance Plan Working Group, and the Cross-Sector Building Safety Forum.   He has held roles as a trustee/board member within a number of built environment organisations and writes and speaks regularly about built heritage issues.

Catherine Cosgrove – Austin-Smith:Lord

Catherine is an architect with more than 25 years’ experience on a wide range of projects and leads the sustainability group at Austin-Smith: Lord. She has a particular focus on conservation and sustainable design and holds RIAS accreditation in both. Catherine is the former chair of the Scottish Ecological Design Association.

Dan Gates – Director, Luths Services

Dan is an independent chartered building service engineer with a good practical experience in most renewable technologies. His background is in consulting and contracting services for leading UK renewable energy firms for 20 years. He has worked with a wide range of clients from community groups, aspiring self-builders to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), large house builders and national companies.

Linda Kay - Regional Sales Manager, A. Proctor Group Ltd.

Linda joined the Proctor Group in 2010 as Regional Sales Co-ordinator before becoming a Regional Sales Manager. Linda has many years of experience in the construction sector, focusing on building relationships with architects, contractors and distributors and as a result can provide a wealth of industry knowledge.

Dr. Scott McGibbon – Director, Pvotal Consultancy

Dr. Scott McGibbon is Director of Pvotal Consultancy Ltd and has over 40+ years’ experience in the built environment sector, particularly the built heritage sector. He is a leading expert on innovation, project management, and skills development, supported by his applied research work, which focuses, on systems thinking, process improvement, and digital transformation. He earned his Ph.D. in Construction Project Management and has authored over 25 peer-reviewed articles. Scott advises on several UK and International leadership groups on innovation, skills and health safety actions. He is a Fellow of the CIOB and the Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (IKE) as well as a reviewer for I.C.E Academic Journals: Management, Procurement and Law Journal & Journal of Environmental Engineering and Science. He is also a member of IHBC, SPAB, BIM4Heritage, the International Scientific Committee of ICOMOS on Education and Training, as well as International Scientific Committee of ICOMOS for Stone. He combines this with being a reviewer for nominations for the UNESCO World Heritage List, and the CyArk (digital documentation) teaching advisory committee.
